How to Check If a Child Object Is Null in a Javascript Button

I ran across a use case today in trying to figure out how to make a javascript button that would see if there’s a child record – and if there was, redirect to a link (and possibly pass in a value through the URL) and if not, give an alert message.

This was hard for me to figure out, and it required reaching out to many online resources to piece together all the information I needed. I’m sharing this in hopes that this can be a more direct answer for someone in the future who might have the same question as me in trying to build this out. The written part of the Platform Developer II exam is being replaced by four superbadges in Trailhead. This was big news at the TrailheadDX conference back in June of this year. This is yuge because it means that individuals can now take the certification exam at anytime instead of waiting on a list to be able to take the exam.

In starting out as a Salesforce Administrator, I received lots of job inquiries from many organizations. In going through the interviewing process with two different companies (19 total interviews), I got to experience some technical interviews and behavioral interviews that covered a lot about Salesforce. These are a sampling of  questions asked for both Salesforce Administrator positions, and how to answer them.  Some of these questions are left unanswered, because that depends on your own work experience. These are great to know, as I’m sure they’d be similar questions asked in other Salesforce Administrator interviews.
